What are the dates of the program? Monday, July 9 - Friday, August 3, 2018.
I don’t have a background in architecture. Can I still attend this program?
Yes! Making Architecture is designed for those without a background in architecture, who are interested in pursuing a professional degree in the discipline.
What is the anticipated time commitment?
Making Architecture will run Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. Students can expect to spend an additional 10-20 hours during evenings and weekends working on their design projects.
Where does the program take place?
Making Architecture will take place in the architecture studios at CCA’s San Francisco campus at 1111 8th Street, San Francisco CA.
Is housing provided for students coming from out of town?
Yes. Housing is very limited and will be granted in the order in which applications are received. Students in need of housing are encouraged to apply as early as possible. These rooms will be available to applicants on a first come first serve basis at an additional cost. See this link for more info and costs.
What's the deadline to apply?
The priority deadline to apply is March 16. Individuals in need of housing are encouraged to apply early (see above).
I missed the application deadline. Can I still apply?
Maybe. Please contact the Making Architecture program office at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if the course is still open to receive applications.
How much does the program cost?
Tuition for the 4-week program is $3600, in addition to a nonrefundable $50 registration fee. Limited housing may be available for an additional cost. Click here for more information about housing.
What is the deadline to pay?
Tuition deposit ($200) is due upon acceptance. Tuition balance ($3,400) is due in full three weeks after date of acceptance. Placement is not guaranteed until all fees are paid in full. All housing payments are due three weeks after date of acceptance or before March 30th, whichever date is sooner.
Is financial aid available?
Please note that financial aid and scholarships are not available through CCA at this time.
What is your refund policy?
Withdrawals must be requested in writing.
- Tuition: Students may withdrawal on or before May 25, 2018 for a 100% refund of tuition and housing payments, minus the non-refundable $200 deposit and $50 registration fee. Withdrawals requested by June 8, 2018 will be accompanied by a 50% refund, minus the non-refundable $200 deposit and $50 registration fee. After June 8th, no refunds will be processed.
- Housing: No refunds for housing payments will be accommodated.
I’m an international student. Should I apply to this program?
Yes, CCA is able to issue an I-20 in order for international students to obtain an F-1 visa to participate in this program. Click APPLY for more application information for international students. English is not my primary language. Do I need to submit proof of English proficiency?
Yes. A minimum TOEFL score of 85 or minimum IELTS score of 6.5 is required for all international students with the exception of citizens of countries in which English is the official language. Please see additional information on CCA requirements here. We may request an informal Skype or video interview with any student for whom English is not a primary language. English fluency is essential for the successful completion of this program.
What computer resources are provided?
Making Architecture students will have access to CCA’s computer labs throughout the duration of the program. CCA computers are installed with the necessary software. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops if they have the proper software installed: Adobe Creative Suite (including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign), and Rhinoceros 3D with Grasshopper plug-in.
Do I need to bring my own materials?
CCA will provide basic model-making tools and materials to get students started. Students should expect to purchase additional materials throughout the program as their design projects develop.
Is there academic credit for completing this program?
Yes. CCA awards 3 undergraduate credits, a transcript, and a letter grade upon successful completion of the program.
When will I be notified of the admissions decision?
Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis and applicants will be notified of admission decision within two weeks of a complete application submission.
